Job Description

Brothers Sports Club – Bundaberg Brothers Sports Club is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our dynamic kitchen team. This full-time position is responsible for planning, preparing and delivering high-quality meals across the Club's diverse food outlets, including the bistro, café, specialty dining areas and function services. Working closely with the Head Chef and management team, you will contribute to menu development, coordinate food preparation, monitor food quality and presentation, manage inventory and food costs, and ensure efficient kitchen operations.

You will also mentor junior kitchen staff, maintain the highest standards of food safety and hygiene, and help create an exceptional dining experience for our members and guests. Task & responsibilities Key Responsibilities

- Prepare, cook and present a diverse range of meals across our bistro, café and specialty dining outlets while maintaining consistency in taste and presentation. Assist in developing seasonal menus and daily specials that align with customer preferences, club promotions and operational requirements.
- Estimate ingredient requirements, monitor stock levels and coordinate food ordering to ensure adequate supplies while minimising waste. Work closely with the Head Chef and management team to maintain efficient kitchen operations and deliver exceptional dining experiences during both regular service and club functions. Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes throughout preparation and service to ensure all meals meet the Club's high standards.
- Guide and mentor junior chefs, apprentices and kitchen attendants by demonstrating appropriate food preparation and cooking techniques. Ensure strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, allergen management and workplace health and safety requirements. Assist with rostering, workflow planning and coordinating kitchen activities during busy service periods.
- Implement effective food storage,



stock rotation and preservation practices to maximise freshness and minimise wastage. Contribute ideas for menu improvements, presentation styles and operational efficiencies that enhance the Club's dining experience.

Qualification & experience Essential Requirements

- Qualification in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- At least one year of relevant post-qualification experience as a Chef, or a minimum of three years' relevant experience in a commercial kitchen. Experience working in a busy restaurant, club or hospitality venue with high-volume food service. Sound knowledge of contemporary Australian cuisine and the ability to prepare a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard.
- Strong understanding of food safety legislation, hygiene practices and kitchen compliance requirements. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to supervise and support junior kitchen staff.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays.
