Baird & McGregor Lawyers is seeking a Litigation & Dispute Resolution Lawyer to join our growing team in Ballarat.

This is an exciting opportunity for a lawyer looking to advance their career within a well-established regional firm.

The role will suit both developing lawyers seeking to broaden their litigation expertise and experienced practitioners looking for greater autonomy, leadership opportunities and the ability to shape the growth of a dispute resolution practice.

You will work across a diverse range of matters including commercial disputes, property disputes, estate litigation, debt recovery, contractual disputes, consumer matters and general civil litigation. Depending on your experience, you will manage your own files, assist in mentoring junior team members, attend mediations, appear in Courts and Tribunals, brief counsel and contribute to the strategic development of the practice.

We are seeking a lawyer who enjoys problem-solving, advocacy and building strong client relationships, and who is committed to delivering practical and commercially focused outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

- Managing litigation and dispute resolution matters from commencement through to resolution

- Advising clients on dispute resolution strategies, litigation risks and commercial outcomes

- Conducting negotiations and participating in settlement discussions and mediations

- Preparing correspondence, pleadings, affidavits, witness statements, submissions and other Court documents

- Conducting legal research and preparing detailed legal advice





- Managing discovery, evidence preparation and briefing material

- Appearing in Courts and Tribunals

- Briefing and liaising with barristers, expert witnesses and other consultants

- Building and maintaining strong client relationships through exceptional service and communication

- Working collaboratively with lawyers across our Family Law, Wills & Estates, Property and Commercial Law teams

What We're Looking For

- Minimum 2 years post-admission experience

- Admission as an Australian Lawyer with a current practising certificate

- Experience in litigation and dispute resolution

- Strong drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

- Sound knowledge of civil procedure and Court processes

- Commercial awareness and the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice

- A collaborative approach and commitment to professional development
