Job Description

RFP PROPERTY SOLUTIONS PTY LTD The Painter is responsible for preparing, treating and painting interior and exterior surfaces on commercial, industrial and residential projects to achieve high-quality finishes that meet project specifications, Australian Standards, and company quality requirements. The role contributes to the successful delivery of painting projects by maintaining safe work practices, producing durable finishes, and ensuring client satisfaction.

Task & responsibilities

- Examine plans, specifications and work instructions to determine project requirements, materials and application methods.
- Prepare surfaces by scraping, sanding, filling, patching, stripping, washing and applying primers, sealers and undercoats to ensure suitable adhesion and finish quality.
- Select, mix and match paints, stains, varnishes and protective coatings to achieve specified colours, textures and finishes.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains, lacquers and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other specialist application methods.
- Repair and prepare damaged surfaces including plaster, timber, metal, masonry and previously painted substrates prior to coating application.
- Apply decorative, textured and protective coating systems in accordance with manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
- Erect, inspect and safely use ladders, scaffolding, elevated work platforms and other access equipment where appropriately authorised.
- Protect surrounding surfaces,



fixtures and completed works from paint contamination and maintain a clean, organised work area throughout the project.
- Inspect completed work to ensure finishes meet quality standards, rectify defects where required, and complete work in accordance with project specifications.
- Maintain painting equipment, spray units, tools and materials in safe working condition and report maintenance requirements.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, environmental procedures, company policies and relevant Australian Standards.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, clients, subcontractors and other trades to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently and on schedule.
- Cleaning equipment and work areas to Prova standard.

Qualification & experience

- Certificate III in Painting and Decorating or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time post-qualification experience in commercial, industrial or residential painting.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare, repair and paint a variety of interior and exterior surfaces to a high standard.
- Experience using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other specialist painting tools.
- Ability to interpret plans, specifications and work instructions.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements, environmental procedures and Australian Standards.
- Solid attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality finishes and work collaboratively within a team.
