We’re seeking an experienced and community-focused Parking & Local Laws Officer to join a busy Local Government team on a contract basis.
This is a hands-on regulatory role suited to someone who can balance enforcement with education, remain calm under pressure, and communicate confidently with the public. One minute you’ll be resolving parking concerns, the next you could be investigating local law matters, responding to community complaints, or attending court proceedings. It’s the sort of role that keeps you moving, thinking, and occasionally explaining—politely but firmly—why parking across a driveway is still not a personality trait.
About the Role
You will help ensure compliance with relevant legislation and local laws while supporting the safety, amenity, and wellbeing of the community.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting patrols, inspections, investigations, and compliance activities
- Issuing infringement notices and Notices to Comply where required
- Responding to customer enquiries and complaints professionally and respectfully
- Preparing reports, statements, and evidence for legal proceedings
- Attending court as an Informant or witness when required
- Supporting public education and awareness campaigns
- Assisting with impounded item processes and enforcement matters
- Maintaining accurate records and case notes
- Providing occasional support with school crossing supervision and fire hazard clearances
