What you will do: You need to read and interpret drawings and, on specific occasions, calculate an estimate of the materials required and the procedures for the installation of the project. You must be able to order and source the correct timber and other materials for specific projects, as well as prepare the layout. You will need to cut the materials to the required sizes and assemble them using appropriate methods and tools. You will interact with frameworks and work on roof framing, subflooring, and floorboards. You may work on fascia panels, fit extra wall cladding, and install doors and window frames, among other tasks. From time to time, you may be required to construct concrete frameworks and repair existing fittings. Other materials you may work with include plastic laminates, composites, and metals.



You should use up-to-date technologies and methodologies for all tasks you perform. You are expected to develop creative and innovative solutions to address challenges that arise during projects. You need to proactively plan and perform inspections to ensure that all projects are executed according to the plans.

What you should have: Degree or diploma in carpentry and joinery, or a related field, with proven experience in a similar role and established projects. Proficiency with industry-standard work flow and tool operations. Familiarity with Australian Codes and Standards. Ability to contribute to a positive and cooperative work environment, sharing your knowledge and learning from colleagues. Safety conscious mind, with experience in critical safety procedures. Great attention to detail and commitment to quality. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
