Yilgarn Iron Investments is a privately owned mining company restarting a portfolio of historic iron ore assets in Western Australia’sYilgarn region, includingKoolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. As production ramps up, maintaining ore quality and grade control is critical

About the Role

We’re looking for a practical, detail-orientedChemist/Lab Managerto manageore sample analysis and quality controlacross the site. This role will be responsible for overseeing sampling workflows, supporting onsite testing (where applicable), and ensuring iron ore products meet specification before transport or stockpiling.

You’ll work closely with geology, metallurgy, and operations to keep material movement aligned with grade targets — with a focus onFe %, SiO₂, Al₂O₃, LOI, and other key indicators.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinatesample collection, preparation, and analysisfor iron ore quality testing




- Oversee or operateon-site lab equipment(e.g. XRF, drying ovens, scales)
- Maintain quality records, QA/QC protocols, and data integrity
- Review and validate assay data from external labs if used (e.g. ALS, SGS)
- Monitor and report on ore grade trends and spec compliance
- Provide timely feedback to mining and processing teams to support blending or stockpile management
- Ensure all sample handling, testing, and storage complies with safety and environmental standards

What We’re Looking For

- Degree inChemistry, Analytical Chemistry, or a related scientific field
- Experience in amine lab, assay lab, or sample QA/QC environment
- Experience withXRF analysis, LOI, and iron ore product testing preferred
- Familiarity with Fe-grade management, contaminants (SiO₂, Al₂O₃, P), and product spec limits
- Robust attention to detail, time management, and data handling
- Manual WA C-Class Driver’s Licence required
