Due to continued growth in Queensland, we are seeking an experienced and hands-on Operations Manager to lead our QLD branch and drive operational performance, workforce engagement, safety, and customer satisfaction across multiple client sites.

About the Role
Based in Hemmant, Queensland , you will oversee daily operations across several customer sites, ensuring the protected, efficient, and high-quality delivery of container unloading services, often within demanding cold storage environments.
You will lead a core team of 5 to 6 employees, including Area Managers and administrative support staff, who collectively oversee more than 150 frontline workers each day. Your focus will be ensuring teams are properly resourced, supported, and positioned to consistently meet operational and client expectations.
Working closely with clients, recruitment teams, and senior leadership, you will serve as the key operational leader for Queensland.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Lead and oversee daily operations across the Queensland branch.
- Provide coaching, support,
and mentorship to Area Managers and support staff.
- Conduct regular visits to client sites to maintain service quality and strong relationships.
- Ensure key performance metrics, including MPS, SLA, DIFOT, and OTP targets, are consistently achieved.
- Drive productivity, efficiency, and operational excellence while maintaining safety standards.
Workforce Planning & Resource Management
- Partner with recruitment teams to ensure adequate labour coverage across all sites.
- Coordinate workforce planning, onboarding, inductions, and ongoing training.
- Monitor team performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure staffing levels align with operational demands and client requirements.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients.
- Identify opportunities for business growth within existing accounts.
- Act as the primary operational contact for Queensland-based clients.
- Collaborate closely with executive leadership to support strategic objectives.
Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare and present monthly operational and KPI performance reports.
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready records within business management systems.
- Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, company policies, and industry standards.
- Champion a strong safety culture across all locations.
- Provide transparent and accurate reporting on branch performance and operational outcomes.
Leadership & Culture
- Lead, develop, and support the operations team.
- Foster accountability, engagement, and high-performance standards.
- Support employee development, succession planning, and career progression.
- Create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and results-driven workplace culture.
About You
You are a proactive and confident leader with a strong operational mindset. You take ownership, solve problems effectively, and build strong relationships with both clients and teams.
- Experience in logistics, warehousing, transport, container operations, or labour hire environments.
- Strong operational leadership experience in multi-site operations.
- Proven ability to manage both frontline teams and people leaders.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and decision-making skills.
- Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
- Experience using workforce scheduling, rostering, or business management systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
Highly Regarded
- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
- Diploma or Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
