About the Role
This is a hands‑on payroll position responsible for the end‑to‑end processing of fortnightly payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, Awards and organisational policies. The organisation currently operates under the SCHADS / ALRM Award , with a transition to a new Enterprise Agreement anticipated.
Key Responsibilities
- Process end‑to‑end fortnightly payroll accurately and on time
- Interpret and apply the SCHADS / ALRM Awards and Enterprise Agreement (when implemented)
- Process payroll variations, leave, superannuation, salary packaging and final pays
- Maintain accurate payroll records and employee payroll data
- Prepare payroll reconciliations, banking files and payroll reporting
- Respond to payroll enquiries while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with payroll legislation
- Support payroll process improvements, including ongoing improvements with Employment Hero
Working Hours
This part‑time role is 21 hours a week, aligned to the fortnightly payroll cycle, working 6 days a fortnight. Attendance is required Monday to Wednesday during payroll week,
while Thursday and Friday attendance is preferred in the week before payroll. The balance of the hours offers flexibility.
About You
You’ll be a payroll professional who enjoys working with numbers, systems and people. You have exceptional attention to detail, excellent organisational skills and a genuine commitment to accuracy.
- Previous experience in an end‑to‑end payroll position
- Experience interpreting Modern Awards (SCHADS/ALRM Award experience highly regarded)
- Experience within the community services or not‑for‑profit sector (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, taxation and superannuation
- Experience using Employment Hero Payroll (highly regarded)
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Experience transitioning payroll systems or implementing process improvements (highly regarded)
