Engineering Manager | Crane Hire & Heavy Lifting Equipment

Your Role This is a senior position and reports to the Executive General Manager, Assets. You may come from an Engineering Management or Crane Operating background, and you’ll lead the Engineering Department, working closely with Operations, Heavy Lift Teams and Customer Service to oversee engineering outcomes. Typical duties:

- Oversee the development and design of detailed lift plans, rigging arrangements and methodologies
- Interpret drawings and analyse load specifications while ensuring accuracy in engineering and project documentation
- Project Management of complex crane and heavy lifting projects
- Provide technical oversight and governance when assessing project risks and ensure site safety compliance at all times
- Provide technical advice and client support, while driving continuous improvement initiatives
- Lead and develop the Engineering team, undertake performance and coaching sessions




- Attend meetings with the Customer or Executive team to provide expertise advice in crane selection and assist with technical development
- Work closely with site teams to achieve outstanding safety outcomes
- Support estimating and commercial teams with tenders and pricing
- Respond to time-critical issues with urgency and strong organisational skills

About You

- Sound experience in the Crane Hire, Heavy Lifting Equipment or Height Safety Engineering sectors
- Proven experience developing and approving critical lift studies and engineered lift plans
- Experience managing complex, time-critical engineering projects
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, WHS legislation and engineering compliance
- High attention to detail with advanced risk assessment and safety management skills
- Strong commercial acumen and problem-solving ability
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage clients and operational teams
- Solid MS Office skills with experience using AutoCAD
- Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- Current Australian Driver's Licence
