The opportunity
Volunteering at the Red Cross Shop in Woden in a back‑of‑house capacity. By joining the team, you will be assisting the team with the processing of donations and stock from our national warehouse.
This May Include
- Sorting donations
- Hanging product
- Tagging and pricing product from approved price bins
- Steaming garments
- Boxing up markdown items and excess
Primary focus of this volunteer position is to assist in getting recent product onto the shop floor for sale, helping us achieve our revenue targets to support the programs of Red Cross. Moving boxes and manual handling up to 10 kg will be required.

The program
Red Cross Shops sell new and donated clothes,
accessories and homewares to raise funds to help people in need. Each year, we rescue 2750 tonnes of clothing from landfill, give opportunities to 5000 volunteers and generate funds to help Red Cross support vulnerable people in Australia and around the world. The proceeds from the sale of items support the vital everyday work of Red Cross, providing relief in times of crisis and care where it’s needed most.
What’s the application process?
- No need to upload a resume – just tell us why you’re interested in the role
- We’ll then have a friendly interview in store and ask you a few questions and you can ask us questions too
- You must be at least 15 years of age (QLD – you must be 16)
- Completing a National Police check (paid for by Red Cross)
- You will also be required to complete an induction into our organisation and retail program
