About The Role
The Alumni Engagement Specialist plays a key role in strengthening Swinburne’s alumni community and supporting the university’s strategic goals. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Alumni Engagement, this position will lead the delivery of the Alumni Leaders Program and develop a comprehensive stewardship plan to increase engagement with alumni both in Australia and internationally.
Working collaboratively across the university, the successful candidate will develop and implement initiatives that encourage alumni participation in key programs, including honorary recognitions, the Alumni Impact Awards, and opportunities to showcase alumni achievements on a global stage. The role partners closely with Schools, Employability, Future Students, Marketing, and Global Engagement to maximise the value and impact of alumni engagement.
The role is also responsible for strengthening alumni feedback processes, providing strategic insights, and measuring the success of engagement initiatives through data, reporting, and benchmarking. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engagement professional who is passionate about building meaningful relationships and creating lasting connections that support Swinburne's mission.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within the tertiary education sector, with a strong understanding of alumni engagement, stakeholder management, and best‑practice engagement strategies.
- Proven organisational and project management skills, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and deliver multiple initiatives to deadline with minimal supervision.
- Extensive experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships, and successfully developing and delivering strategic engagement programs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer service focus and the ability to build meaningful, lasting relationships.
- A collaborative and innovative approach, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing priorities.
- A proactive, team‑oriented mindset, with a commitment to supporting the broader objectives of the Advancement team, including fundraising initiatives.
- Strong analytical, planning, and problem‑solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and experience using CRM systems.
Qualifications
A degree with at least 4 years subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
