About the Role
The Assistant Accountant supports the Financial Control and Tax Manager in delivering accurate financial reporting and accounting activities across ANL Container Line and ANL Singapore (Back Office). The role is responsible for assisting with month‑end reporting, overhead accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, fixed‑asset and lease accounting, budgeting, statutory reporting, and providing financial analysis to support business and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month‑end financial reporting, including balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, prepayments, payroll accounting, regional office administration costs, and OneStream reporting.
- Support overhead accounting by preparing cost centre allocations, analysing budget variances, coding invoices, and assisting with annual overhead budget preparation and reporting.
- Maintain fixed asset registers and IFRS 16 lease schedules, coordinate fixed‑asset stock‑takes, and ensure accurate asset and lease accounting records.
- Prepare statutory reports, management reports, cost analysis, surveys, and other ad‑hoc financial reports to support business operations and compliance requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, quality management procedures, and Work Health & Safety (WHS) requirements while providing support to the wider Finance team as needed.
Qualifications
- Degree in Accounting or Commerce, with progress towards CPA/CA or another qualified accounting qualification viewed favourably.
- Advanced Excel skills with strong proficiency in accounting systems and reporting tools, such as SAP HANA, Cognos, BI, and OneStream.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, business fundamentals, and excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships across all levels of the business, and shipping industry experience considered an advantage.

- Applicants must have full working rights to cover the entire length of the contract.
