Job Description

As a Rehabilitation Specialist Consultant, participate in all aspects of the medical care of rehabilitation patients/clients across a range of settings, including acute inpatient, in‑reach, ambulatory and community rehabilitation services.

The occupant will:

- Be involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
- Be actively involved in research.
- Undertake quality improvement activities.

Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania's largest hospital and major referral centre. The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital encompasses a busy inpatient and outpatient service. Rehabilitation physicians work across multiple hospital sites to deliver inpatient care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions. The outpatient service provides opportunities for continuity in clinical practice with outpatient clinics across a range of specialist rehabilitation medicine areas.

About the Candidate

- Holds specialist registration.
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG) on the specialist pathway.
- Is a registered Medical Practitioner who is an International Medical Graduate (IMG)



with a recognised overseas specialist qualification and is assessed as having sufficient experience in the specialty.

Salary

Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $222,789 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $305,539 with further salary increments available.

Access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 – $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.

Additional allowances may include:

- Allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
- Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
- On‑call allowance (percent of Base Salary).
- Other allowances as per current Award.
- Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on‑call, pro rata of additional payment will be paid from PPS. If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

You will have access to a salary package and a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year and other benefits if eligible.

Fitness Passport – you and your family can access 40+ fitness facilities across Tasmania for just $13.95 per week per person, or $25.95 for a family.

Details of Appointment

Permanent part‑time day work (with on‑call), working 45.6 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as you would like to join our team.
