The role
We're looking for a skilled and motivated Cloud Software Engineer to join a high‑profile national law firm with a strong reputation in the legal industry. You'll be part of an ambitious, agile team responsible for designing, building and operating in‑house web applications and services on a modern, cloud‑native, API‑first architecture running on Microsoft Azure. These applications are critical to the firm's operations and are built and delivered through automated infrastructure‑as‑code and CI/CD pipelines.
- You'll be working on challenging and impactful projects that directly contribute to the success of a leading national law firm.
- Current projects include agentic AI applications for the legal industry that will truly revolutionise traditional legal services – autonomous, tool‑using AI agents that reason over legal workflows, orchestrate tasks and integrate directly with our REST APIs.
- Be part of a collaborative and supportive team environment.
- Access to continuous learning and career development opportunities.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and operate robust, scalable cloud‑native applications and services on Microsoft Azure across the full software development lifecycle.
- Build and maintain infrastructure as code (Bicep) so that environments are repeatable, version‑controlled and self‑documenting.
- Design, build and operate CI/CD pipelines that automate build, test, security scanning and deployment from commit to production.
- Champion DevOps practices across the team – automation, monitoring, observability, infrastructure‑as‑code and a culture of continuous improvement and shared ownership.
- Design,
build and secure REST APIs that power our applications and serve as integration points for internal systems and AI agents.
- Develop agentic AI capabilities – integrating large language models, tool/function calling and autonomous agent orchestration with our APIs and data platforms.
- Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to define requirements and deliver high‑quality solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve issues across applications, pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of development and DevOps practices.
- Stay up to date with emerging cloud, DevOps and AI technologies and propose innovative solutions to business challenges.
Required Technical Skills
- Hands‑on experience deploying, configuring and operating applications and services on Microsoft Azure (App Services, Functions, Storage, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, Application Insights, API Management and Logic Apps).
- Experience with infrastructure as code – provisioning and managing Azure resources using Bicep.
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions, including automated build, test and deployment, and managing source code in Git.
- Strong DevOps background – automation, release management, environment configuration, secrets management, monitoring and observability.
- Demonstrated experience designing, building and securing REST APIs (authentication, authorisation, versioning and documentation).
- Exposure to or strong interest in agentic AI – building with large language models, retrieval‑augmented generation, and tool/function calling.
- Solid backend development experience in C#/.NET (.NET 8/9/10 and .NET Framework 4.6).
Nice to have
- Azure certifications (e.g. AZ‑204, AZ‑400, AI‑102).
- Experience integrating AI agents with enterprise systems and data sources.
