About the Role: You are accountable to the Manager of Pastoral Services while providing spiritual and emotional support to patients, residents and families in St Vincent’s Health Australia (SVHA) facilities, primarily at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Werribee but also potentially at other sites.

Salary: $37–$41 per hour plus a casual loading of 25%.

Location: St Vincent’s Private Hospital, Werribee (with possible duty at other sites).

Duties

- Provide spiritual and emotional care for patients, residents and family members.
- Respond to referrals promptly and document care appropriately.
- Liaise with external faith chaplaincy teams to ensure appropriate liturgical or sacramental response.
- Attend and contribute to pastoral, multidisciplinary team meetings and education sessions.
- Comply with St Vincent’s policies, procedures, directions and learning requirements.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

- Tertiary qualification in Spiritual Care or Theology (e.g., Master of Arts or Social Science with a specialization in spiritual care or counselling).




- Recognised training in Pastoral/Spiritual Care (e.g., 400 hours, 2 units of Clinical Pastoral Education or equivalent).
- Experience in pastoral or spiritual care within an aged health care setting.
- Emotional and spiritual maturity with an appreciation of diverse faiths, values and cultural backgrounds.
- Excellent listening and spiritual assessment skills.
