Join the Test Team within Auto & General's Technology division, a group of quality‑focused professionals dedicated to ensuring the reliability and excellence of our digital products and platforms. The team plays a critical role in the software delivery lifecycle, collaborating closely with developers, product owners, business analysts, and automation specialists to deliver exceptional outcomes. You will lead a team of 6‑10 Test Analysts, report to the Test Manager, and contribute to a vibrant community of practice championing continuous improvement.

The Role

As Test Lead, you will oversee the entire testing lifecycle—from strategic planning and design to execution, defect management, and comprehensive reporting. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of applications, products and services across multiple testing types including system, integration, regression, UAT, performance, security and production verification testing.

- Develop and manage testing strategy and planning across all testing phases (ST/SIT, Regression, UAT, PVT)
- Lead walkthroughs with stakeholders on testing approaches for new initiatives
- Provide guidance and support to Test Analysts on test coverage, risks, and defect management
- Build, define and maintain regression suites in collaboration with Test Analysts and Business SMEs
- Partner with Automation Analysts to support automation of regression suites
- Actively participate in Flow Delivery workshops representing testing requirements
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Developers, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Business Analysts) from concept to delivery
- Plan and design comprehensive test cases ensuring coverage across positive, negative and regression scenarios
- Lead test execution, defect identification, raise and retesting
- Deliver comprehensive test reports including Test Progress, Test Summary and Defect reports
- Apply advanced testing techniques such as risk‑based testing, BDD, TDD and the 3 amigos approach




- Support onboarding of new team members and facilitate skills development for Test Analysts
- Contribute to the Testing Community of Practice, sharing knowledge and best practices
- Provide transparent communication to stakeholders on all testing matters
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational, financial and reputational risks in line with APRA prudential standards

What Experience You'll Bring

- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Test Lead
- Experience supporting and mentoring a team of Test Analysts
- Track record creating test strategies, plans, test traceability matrices and test reports
- Solid understanding of software development methodologies including Agile/Scrum and Continuous Delivery
- Experience using testing techniques such as Risk‑Based testing, BDD and TDD
- High‑level knowledge of test practices, tools and techniques, including the testing pyramid
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical staff, end‑users and management
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills to uplift team capabilities
- Pragmatic approach and resilience to change
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Sound problem‑solving, time and resource management skills
- Degree in Information Technology or equivalent qualifications/experience
- ISTQB Certified (essential)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Understanding of software development methodologies including Agile/Scrum, Continuous Delivery and agile testing
- Demonstrated use of testing techniques such as Risk‑Based testing, BDD and TDD
- Understanding of testing pyramid
- High level of knowledge of test practices, tools and techniques
