This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2027 with possible extension and/or permanency.

Cape Naturaliste College was established in 2008 after extensive consultation with members of the community. The College began as a middle school and has maintained a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration. The staff work collaboratively and strategically to refine practice and support all students, ensuring a positive learning environment where students are engaged, resilient, and independent members of the community.

The Role

As a key member of the administrative team, the Head of Learning Area will work closely with the Principal to provide educational leadership within the school and broader community. The primary focus will be on developing and promoting the school’s vision, encouraging active participation from staff, community volunteers, and other stakeholders in the Humanities and Social Sciences learning area.

In the capacity of curriculum leader, responsibilities include:

- Providing professional guidance to HASS teachers on curriculum issues and emerging educational practices.
- Facilitating teaching and learning outcomes and implementing effective performance management strategies.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the academic community.




- Supporting the implementation of curriculum for Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) HASS, where experience is highly desirable.

- Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.
- Valid Working With Children Check before starting.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before starting.
