Apply now for an Advanced Training position in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, commencing in the 2027 clinical year within the Northern Rivers - Richmond Network (Lismore Base Hospital, Ballina District Hospital, Casino Memorial Hospital). The Trainee in Obstetrics and Gynaecology will work in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including inpatient ward care, birthing unit, theatres and outpatients (antenatal, postnatal and gynaecology) clinics. They will also gain valuable experience to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical setting.

Our ideal candidate will meet the requirements as set in the Essential Criteria of the position description and be a member of the RANZCOG Advanced Training Program, with the goal of obtaining FRANZCOG. The successful applicant will have a commitment to working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Where you'll be working

The Lismore Base Hospital is an acute regional referral hospital of 280 beds on the Far North Coast of NSW, serving a population of approximately 170,000 people and has a busy Emergency Department (40,000 presentations annually), ICU and Coronary Care Unit, as well as Surgery (general, orthopaedic and speciality surgery), Paediatrics, Mental Health, and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

LBH is an affiliated teaching hospital for medical students from the University of Sydney, University of Wollongong, University of Western Sydney and Bond University. The hospital has a strong commitment to teaching and support for its Junior Medical Officers.





The primary purpose of the position is to provide quality obstetric and gynaecological care to patients in a complex clinical environment whilst developing higher professional maturity and professionalism during the RANZCOG Advanced Training Program, with the goal of obtaining FRANZCOG. Advanced trainees will, under appropriate supervision by senior staff, evaluate, diagnose, treat and provide consultation to female patients of all ages presenting in any condition or stage of pregnancy or the puerperium; and female patients presenting with illnesses, injuries and disorders of the gynaecological or genitourinary system.

- Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team, including providing leadership and direction to ensure appropriate management of patients
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertise
- Demonstrated time management and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and computer skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management
- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.
- Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
