Finneran Mech Services PTY Ltd is a growing business that has been operating in Western Australia since December 2022 specializing in providing subcontract maintenance and heavy diesel mechanical solutions to the mining, civil, construction and agricultural sectors in WA.
Job roles will predominately be based around the Pilbara, Goldfields & the Wheatbelt regions of Western Australia but we also carry out works in the Northern Territory.
Works will predominately be carried out on Fixed & Mobile Plant crushing & screening operations, and heavy diesel machinery such as Front‑end loaders, Excavators, etc. & Road Haulage assets on a 2:1 swing roster from Perth with the option of longer swings potentially.
We also have recently acquired a workshop in Perth where we will be catering for all aspects of Road Haulage Maintenance as well as Light Commercial Vehicle & car works, giving you the option of work available on your week of if you want it.
Experience in Heavy Diesel Machinery, a clean valid driver's license, ability to weld/fabricate to a decent standard and the ability to pass medicals and both scheduled and random drug & alcohol tests are a non‑negotiable. Rates will be paid on relevant experience and proof of knowledge & skill level.
What is expected from you?
- Carry out regular preventative maintenance and servicing on heavy diesel engines and mobile & fixed plant machinery within the mining, civil, construction and agricultural sectors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults in line with OEM specifications and industry standards.
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, differentials, hydraulic systems and auxiliary equipment (generators, compressors) in field environments.
- Provide emergency breakdown response on‑site or in remote locations to minimize equipment downtime.
- Lead day‑to‑day workflow by allocating tasks, assisting team members and ensuring maintenance activities are completed efficiently and safely.
- Support planning and execution of shutdowns and major repairs, coordinating with operations and maintenance teams to manage priorities and equipment availability.
- Inspect, identify and replace worn or damaged parts, ensuring components meet safety and reliability requirements.
- Test, calibrate and adjust diesel engines and associated systems for optimum performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, maintenance schedules and equipment status to support reporting and compliance requirements.
- Assist with parts identification, ordering and inventory coordination to support ongoing maintenance needs.
- Provide guidance and hands‑on support to apprentices and junior trades staff, supporting skill development and safe work practices.
- Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and other technical teams to maintain equipment readiness in harsh and remote operating environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance procedures, troubleshooting methods and secure work processes.
- Support site planning tasks including travel coordination, equipment preparation and maintenance scheduling.
- Communicate clearly regarding job progress, equipment issues and operational requirements.
- Follow all safety, environmental and site‑specific procedures, particularly regarding hazardous materials, fuel, oils and waste disposal.
