You will deliver high-quality Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging services for inpatients and outpatients at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The Team

The Department of Medical Imaging (DMI) at Royal Hobart Hospital is a critical tertiary service providing comprehensive diagnostic and interventional imaging to support acute, sub‑acute, outpatient, and statewide referral services across Tasmania. The department delivers a full suite of imaging modalities, including nuclear medicine, PET/CT, radiography, CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy and interventional radiology. The focus is on safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred imaging while maintaining regulatory compliance and responding to increasing demand and technological advancement.

The Role

As a Specialist Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform advanced imaging procedures, lead clinical initiatives, and support patient care.

Responsibilities

- Perform specialised Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging, including complex and novel procedures
- Prepare radiopharmaceuticals and undertake laboratory‑based activities
- Provide supervision, training, and guidance to less experienced staff
- Contribute to protocol development, quality improvement, and research initiatives
- Support a safe, high‑quality clinical environment aligned with professional and organisational standards
- Participate in on‑call services and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in complex Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT imaging
- Strong knowledge of contemporary techniques, equipment, and best practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient‑centred approach
- Proven ability to supervise, train, and support other staff




- Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Medical Radiation Practice Board
- Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia
- Licensed to practice under Tasmanian Radiation Protection Act 2005 and Radiation Protection Regulations 2016

Employment Details

Fixed‑term, full‑time, day worker (with on‑call) position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 1 June 2027. Hours are negotiable. The selection process may be used to fill similar vacancies for a period of twelve months from publication.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $117,272 to $126,182 per annum (plus our Employer 12 % superannuation contribution). Salary packaging and additional allowances are available.

- Salary packaging includes living expenses up to $9,010 and meal entertainment up to $2,650 per FBT year, and other benefits if eligible.
