About The Role
This organisation is seeking a highly skilled APS6 Communications Officer who can quickly grasp complex and sensitive subject matter and transform it into clear, strategic messaging.
Level/Classification: APS6 | Contract Type: Permanent | Contract Duration: 12 Months + 6 Months extension | Location: Canberra, ACT | Indicative Salary: $102,266.00 – 114,988.00 + Super
Requirements

Key Responsibilities
- Partner with subject matter experts to understand ICT and cyber security projects from concept through to delivery.
- Develop and implement communication strategies to support project launches and organisational initiatives.
- Create engaging communication products including intranet articles, internal communications, presentations, promotional materials, and awareness campaigns.
- Provide strategic communications advice to stakeholders across multiple business areas.
- Manage communications activities and priorities to meet project deadlines and business objectives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of communication processes, tools, and products.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across technical and non-technical teams.
- Support change and adoption activities for technology and cyber security initiatives.
Skills and Experience Required
- Demonstrated experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, or corporate communications roles.
- Solid written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences.
- Experience developing communication plans, strategies, and content across multiple channels.
- Ability to engage effectively with technical subject matter experts and senior stakeholders.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Sound judgement and the ability to work independently with limited direction.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications, including PowerPoint and related communication tools.
- Knowledge of records management systems (EDRMS) is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a customer-focused and collaborative approach.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and commitment to delivering high‑quality outcomes.
