Public Event Planner & Marketing Assistant Maitland | Part-time (progressing to full-time from September)

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an event and marketing professional (student or recent graduate) who's passionate about both public event coordination and social media marketing, content creation and design.
You'll work across two streams: supporting the logistics behind our public and community events, and helping our in-house Marketing Manager deliver creative marketing outcomes for a range of events and social channels.
You'll get hands‑on experience across a busy calendar of events, including Newcastle Toy Run, Festival of Sweets and Treats, Wedding and Wine Festival, The Wedding Fairs Series, Pets Life Festival, and 100+ weddings and corporate events each year.
What You'll Be Doing
- Event Planning
- Sourcing and managing vendors, including reviewing applications and processing bookings
- Maintaining event files, site plans, sign‑on sheets and bump‑in/bump‑out documents
- Supporting event logistics and on‑the‑day operations
- Marketing & Content
- Managing and scheduling social media (including paid content)
- Creating digital content for social media,
website and EDMs
- Building and maintaining a monthly content calendar
- Updating website content
- Assisting with design projects, including print‑ready artwork, signage and posters
- Working within brand style guides for HEG original events and client‑based events
What We're Looking For
Studying or recently studied Event Management, Marketing, or similar (or relevant experience)
6-12 months' experience preferred, but we're open to those keen to learn
A genuine passion for both events and marketing (This is very important)
Confident using Canva, with developing graphic design skills
Robust writing and grammar
Great organisational and admin skills, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks
Confident communicator with a customer‑first approach
Flexible to work occasional weekends and outside standard hours
Valid driver's licence with access to a reliable vehicle
