St Luke's Care
Bullatale
St Luke's Care is an iconic private health organisation that has delivered excellence in care for over 100 years. Our Hospital, Aged Care facility, Rehabilitation and Home Care service are all committed to providing the highest quality care. We invest in our staff’s development and provide a culture that allows you to grow.
We are seeking a reliable and professional Security Guard to maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, residents, staff, and visitors at our small hospital and aged care facility. The ideal candidate will be vigilant, compassionate, and capable of handling various security situations with discretion and care, particularly in a healthcare and elderly care setting.
St Luke’s Private Hospital does not have an Emergency Department, and the hospital operating theatres are not open on weekends and public holidays.
The role is for casual employment and/or short-term contract work to cover leave where frequency of shifts may change week to week. The shifts are forecast a month ahead, so the role would suit someone who is semi-retired or, as a second or part-time job where the work commitment can mostly be confirmed a month or more in advance.
Reporting to the Corporate Services Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of effective, efficient, and responsive security services inside St Luke’s premises.
Duties include:
Monitor premises: Conduct regular patrols of the hospital and aged care facility, including entrances, hallways, patient/resident areas, car parks, and grounds.
Access control: Ensure only authorised individuals enter the premises. Monitor visitor and contractor access in line with hospital and aged care protocols.
Incident response: Respond to alarms, emergencies, disturbances, and medical calls as required. Liaise with emergency services when necessary.
Conflict management: De-escalate situations involving distressed patients, residents, or visitors with professionalism and empathy.
Report writing: Maintain accurate records of daily activities, incidents, and irregularities such as equipment or property damage, theft, or presence of unauthorised persons.
Support staff: Provide assistance to clinical and administrative staff during high-risk situations (e.g., patient/resident behavioural issues, lost residents, etc.).
Surveillance: Monitor CCTV systems and alarms for unusual activity.
Enforce policies: Uphold facility rules, safety policies, and COVID-19 or infection control procedures.
Valid Security Officer License (mandatory)
Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
Previous experience in healthcare or aged care security (preferred)
