We are seeking experienced and dedicated Foal Watch Attendants to join our Elite Equine Breeding Program for the upcoming foaling season.
Working closely with our Veterinarian and Breeding Team, you will play a key role in monitoring broodmares, assisting with foaling and providing exceptional care to mares and newborn foals throughout the season.
This is a fantastic opportunity to work with exceptional broodmares and foals while gaining valuable experience within one of Australia’s leading equine breeding and polo operations.
About the Role
- Monitoring broodmares throughout the foaling season.
- Recognising the early signs of foaling and responding promptly and appropriately.
- Assisting with foaling and providing immediate post-foaling care to mares and foals.
- Monitoring the health and wellbeing of broodmares and newborn foals.
- Supporting the Veterinarian during foaling and emergency situations when required.
- Safely handling horses of varying sizes and temperaments.
- Maintaining accurate foaling records and treatment documentation.
- Working collaboratively with the Veterinary and Breeding teams.
- Following all Work Health & Safety and biosecurity procedures.
- Contributing to the smooth operation of the breeding program throughout the season.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in foal watch or broodmare management.
- Strong knowledge of foaling, including pre- and post-foaling care of mares and foals.
- The ability to confidently recognise and respond to foaling complications.
- Excellent horse handling skills and a calm, practical approach under pressure.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently as well as within a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Reliability, flexibility and a robust work ethic.
- An understanding and appreciation of Work Health & Safety practices.
