We're looking for an experienced Policy and Advocacy Manager to drive meaningful change through strategic advocacy, government engagement and evidence-based policy development.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about influencing health policy and improving outcomes for people living with chronic disease.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager – Health, you'll lead The Arthritis Movement's policy and advocacy agenda across NSW and Queensland.
You’ll work closely with government, peak bodies, healthcare organisations and consumer representatives to shape policy, strengthen partnerships and position The Arthritis Movement as a trusted and influential voice in arthritis and chronic disease advocacy.
This is a part-time (0.5 FTE / 19 hours per week), 12-month fixed-term position with flexible hybrid working arrangements.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and strengthen The Arthritis Movement's advocacy strategy to drive meaningful policy change.
- Lead policy development, submissions and strategic briefings.
- Build strong relationships with government, health leaders and sector stakeholders.
- Represent the organisation at high-level forums and consultations.
- Identify opportunities to influence health policy and improve outcomes for people living with arthritis.
- Build partnerships and collaborative advocacy initiatives with peak bodies and like-minded organisations.
- Support advocacy capability across the organisation and contribute to strategic planning.
About You
You’ll bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in Public Health, Health Policy, Social Science or a related discipline.
- At least five years' experience in policy and advocacy, ideally within the health or not-for-profit sector.
- A strong understanding of Australia's health system and policy environment.
- Experience influencing government and senior stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, research and strategic thinking skills.
- The ability to work independently while building collaborative relationships.
- A genuine commitment to improving the lives of people living with arthritis.
Experience in chronic disease advocacy and established networks within NSW or Queensland are highly regarded.
