Allied Health Assistant - Speech Pathology

I provide patient-centred therapy support to people with swallowing and communication difficulties under the supervision of a speech pathologist. Working across acute, sub-acute and outpatient settings, I assist with individual and group interventions, support patients and their families, develop patient resources, manage equipment, and complete clinical administration tasks to help ensure the efficient delivery of speech pathology services.

Working across acute, sub-acute and outpatient settings, I assist with individual and group interventions, support patients and their families, develop patient resources, manage equipment, and complete clinical administration tasks to help ensure the efficient delivery of speech pathology services.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:

- Demonstrate a sound level of competency in the provision of direct clinical assistance within the context of Speech Pathology, to deliver therapy programs, screening tools and interventions in order to achieve optimal outcomes and client safety. Assist other Allied Health Assistants as required to ensure priority workloads are completed.
- Prepare treatment media (equipment or materials) as needed by the Speech Pathologists, and maintain work areas in compliance with Workplace Health and Safety guidelines.




- Provision ofindividual and group activities as directedby thespeechpathologist(includingcomputeror device-based therapy programs and communication/swallowing exercise programs),toinpatients with diverse medical conditions.
