About the Role:

One Rail Australia is preparing for a growth phase in QLD. To support this growth we are seeking to establish a pool of Casual Qualified Locomotive Drivers based at our Sarina depot. The core purpose of the role is to provide casual support to operate locomotives where One Rails' full time drivers are not available under their normal roster or where we are unable to cover the operational requirement through overtime. The work will primarily cover short notice movements between Jilalan and our maintenance facility in Mackay.

In addition to the above, your key responsibilities will also include:

- Operate locomotives in a safe and efficient manner
- Carry out shunting at yards, depots and sidings and carry out the examination of trains, including the conducting of brake and continuity tests
- Carry out preparation, stabling, turning, and assembling of locomotives
- Carry out roll‑by inspections
- Correct and reset minor on‑road faults and diagnose and liaise with specialist staff for major on‑road faults and failures
- Operate, in accordance with correct procedures, all communications equipment and prepare documentation associated with the operation of the train
- Drive motor vehicles

About You:

You will be part of the train crew servicing our Sarina Operation. You will work on highly technologically advanced locomotives and rollingstock and will play a key role in the ongoing success of the operation. This is a 24/7 operation, therefore you must be available to work various shifts on weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

Skills & Qualifications:

- Certificate IV in Train Driving
- Recent practical experience working on diesel locomotives
- A basic working knowledge of safe‑working procedures in a railway environment
- A current unrestricted motor vehicle drivers’ licence
- A strong commitment to following rules and operating safely
- Solid communication skills
- A willingness to be part of a team
- A high level of concentration
- Current Safeworking qualification
- Experience in the Goonyella System in both Aurizon and QR Networks is highly desirable

The Process:

As part of One Rail Australia's recruitment and selection process, short listed applicants will be required to:

- Provide a recent national criminal history check.
- Provide relevant qualifications.
- Provide a Current C Class or higher Drivers Licence.
- Undertake a Cat 1 Rail Medical
