About the Job

As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of our global technology team and support our service delivery function; owning the design, architecture, and health of complex infrastructure for a diverse portfolio of managed services clients across Australia, New Zealand, the UK, and the US. This is a senior, multi-faceted role: you will lead technical design decisions across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Entra ID, mentor junior and mid-level engineers, and drive automation and continuous improvement across the business.

- Microsoft Intune (endpoint management & compliance)
- PowerShell scripting & automation (Rewst, Power Automate)

Responsibilities:

- Own the design, architecture, and lifecycle of cloud-hosted and on-prem customer environments, setting technical standards for the wider engineering team.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for the service desk and field engineering teams, owning resolution of the most complex incidents.




- Lead technical conversations with clients, including scoping, effort estimation, and input into proposals.
- Architect solutions to complex customer and internal issues across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Mentor and upskill Systems Engineers and Service Desk staff through coaching and review of technical work.

The following skills are essential:

- 7+ years’ experience in a systems engineering, infrastructure, or senior technical role, including experience operating at an architecture or design authority level
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or leading junior and mid-level engineers
- Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 administration, with the ability to design solutions from the ground up
- Expert understanding of Entra ID / Azure AD including conditional access, SSO, and hybrid identity
- Experience with enterprise firewall and networking platforms (FortiGate preferred), including the ability to design network architecture
- Advanced proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation, reporting, and systems administration
- Proven troubleshooting methodology and the ability to work autonomously under pressure across multiple concurrent client environments




- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical detail for technical and non-technical audiences
- Current driver’s licence and full working rights in Australia

The following skills are desirable:

- Microsoft certifications such as AZ-305, AZ-500, AZ-700, AZ-800/801, MS-102, or SC-300 - Intelliworx covers study materials and exam costs
- Experience with Hyper-V, VMware, or Azure and support clients who utilise these environments.
- Exposure to compliance frameworks: ASD Essential Eight, ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials
- Experience maintaining client environments using MSP tooling and stack. (Datto RMM, Intune, AVD.etc)
