Opportunity
Reporting to the General Manager, this hands-on role will prepare and co-ordinate our shore excursion programmes in Australian ports, delivering exceptional experiences for our cruise line partner’s guests. We have two roles available, one based in the Sydney and the other based in either Cairns or Darwin.
Key responsibilities of the role:
- ADMINISTRATION - Manage a broad range of administrative responsibilities to ensure the smooth preparation of shore excursions. These include responding promptly and accurately to rate requests from cruise line partners, handling incoming shore excursion bookings, and efficiently managing tour allotments. The role also involves building new tours into the reservation system and overseeing presales and waitlists to maximise guest participation
- SUPPLIER COMMS - Work closely with our suppliers to schedule and confirm tour allotments, provide regular sales updates and coordinate operations on tour days
- RECRUITMENT - Book and coordinate Tour Guides to ensure they are prepared for the delivery of their assigned programs
- GROUND OPERATIONS - Attend cruise ship calls to coordinate the Shore Excursion program and oversee the operations, including managing tour guides,
coaches and suppliers to ensure the programme is delivered to a high standard
- CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATIONS - Ensure all services are booked and delivered to our clients to meet contractual obligations
- RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT - Create and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and key partners
- PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT - Be on the lookout for new product for future itineraries
Qualifications, skills & experience
You will be a highly motivated team player, preferable with a tertiary qualification in tourism and a minimum 2 years’ relevant experience. Your detailed approach to delivering ground operations, plus relevant travel industry experience will see you thrive in this dynamic role.
You will have:
- Sound knowledge of Australian ports & cities
- Experience providing logistical or operational service within cruise or tourism
- Excellent operational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Strong administrative skills and the ability to learn new systems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure
- Availability to work flexible hours - during high season weekend work and interstate travel will be required

Need to know
- You will need to have relevant tourism experience to be considered. This role would suit candidates with travel industry Ground Ops, events or product experience.
- The Sydney candidate will be based in a “WeWork” office in Sydney CBD with the flexibility to work remotely 2 or 3 days a week. The Cairns/Darwin candidate will work from home.
- We are a small company with an “All-hands-on-deck” approach.
- Flexibility is required, particularly over the peak summer season where you will be required to be onsite at ports and this may occur over weekends. You will also be required to travel to interstate ports.
