You will be responsible for providing independent surveillance of civil construction works to ensure projects are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contractual requirements and industry best practice.
Reporting to the Superintendent, you will provide accurate and objective advice regarding construction progress, quality, compliance and workmanship.
The role acts as the Superintendent's representative on site, identifying emerging risks, verifying completed works, documenting project performance and ensuring construction issues are identified early and addressed before they impact project outcomes.
You will need sound technical judgement, strong commercial awareness and the confidence to engage constructively with contractors, consultants and project stakeholders whilst maintaining independence and professional integrity.

- Residential and suburban streets;
- Local access roads;
- Collector and sub-arterial roads;
- Rural sealed and unsealed roads;
- Road widening and pavement rehabilitation;
- Kerb and channel;
- Stormwater drainage networks;
- Culverts and associated drainage structures;
- Shared pathways and footpaths;
- On-road cycling infrastructure;
- Traffic management infrastructure;
- Associated civil works within the road reserve.
About the Candidate
You are an experienced civil construction professional who understands what good construction looks like and is confident challenging work that falls below the required standard.
- Demonstrated experience inspecting or supervising civil infrastructure construction projects;
- Strong understanding of road construction, drainage and municipal infrastructure;
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and construction contracts;
- Experience identifying construction defects and non-conformances;
- Sound understanding of quality assurance and inspection processes;
- Experience maintaining detailed project records and site documentation;
- Solid communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
- Ability to work independently whilst supporting the Superintendent across multiple concurrent projects.
- Experience within consulting engineering, civil contracting environments or local government infrastructure will be highly regarded.
