Capital Facility Services Pty Ltd is seeking a Water Damage Restoration Technician to join our team in Preston, VIC 3072. This is a full-time position offering an exciting opportunity to work in the water damage restoration and cleaning services industry. As a Water Damage Restoration Technician, you will play a crucial role in helping property owners and businesses recover from water and fire related disasters and will assist with mould remediation. Your expertise will be essential in minimising damage, preventing further deterioration, and restoring properties to their pre-loss condition. This role is central to our mission of providing rapid, professional restoration services to clients across Melbourne and surrounding areas.
Key responsibilities
- Respond promptly to emergency water damage calls and conduct thorough initial assessments of affected properties, as well as undertake immediate make-safe actions
- Extract standing water using specialised equipment
- Document damage through photography and detailed written reports for insurance purposes from site via a real-time app on your phone
- Operate and manage drying equipment such as air movers, dehumidifiers and moisture metres to restore properties to normal conditions
- Identify and treat areas affected by mould using appropriate remediation techniques
- Undertake fire damage cleaning and remediation programs
- Clean, sanitise and decontaminate affected areas to ensure protected, hygienic conditions
- Remove damaged materials including drywall, insulation and flooring when necessary
- Work collaboratively with other team members to complete restoration projects efficiently and to high standards
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and materials used on each job
- Liaise with the administration team, clients, insurance companies and other stakeholders to provide updates on restoration progress
What we're looking for
Proven experience in water damage restoration, remediation work or related cleaning and restoration services. Experience in mould remediation would be highly regarded.
Current water damage and/or mould remediation certifications such as IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification) qualifications are preferred.
Comprehensive knowledge of water damage assessment, drying techniques, fire damage restoration approaches and mould remediation procedures
Proficiency in operating restoration equipment including dehumidifiers, air movers, moisture metres, pumps and carpet cleaning machines
Strong physical capability to perform demanding manual work, including lifting heavy equipment and working in challenging environments
Excellent attention to detail and ability to document work accurately and comprehensively
Outstanding customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with distressed clients
Valid Australian's driver's licence and access to reliable transport
Ability to work flexibly, including emergency call-outs outside standard business hours
Commitment to workplace health and safety practices and protocols
Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to work independently as well as part of a team

Remuneration
Capital Facility Services Pty Ltd will reward the successful candidate with a competitive hourly rate based on their qualifications and experience. Overtime is also available to allow for a strong earning potential. Based on experience and hours worked earing potential is estimated to be between $70,000 to $95,000+ annually, with super payments being in addition.
