Design Coordinator - Education, Community, and Public Projects

Are you a technical Architect or Technician curious about taking the plunge into contractor-side in a design coordinator role? This midsized construction company deliver projects on traditional contracts as well as design + construct. They’re looking to add depth of experience to their team through the appointment of a Design Coordinator to enhance their offering and streamline their processes. They work on projects within the education, community, public and cultural sectors and looking for someone who has worked in these sectors. The ideal candidate is technical minded, has robust BIM skills and will use their skills and experience in a slightly different way, in a support role to the inhouse Design Managers.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the design processon D&C; projects under a DM

Support tender of D&C; projects

Assist in design coordination on construction-only projects

Conduct risk review of tender documents

Identify additional design requirements to allow accurate tender pricing

Engage consultants for D&C; tender input





Produce and manage design program and design deliverables

Partake in design meetings and workshops, produce meeting minutes

Review subcontractor design submissions and shop drawings

Identify upcoming tender opportunities

Skills and Experience

ARBV Registered (or similar equivalent elsewhere in Australia)

7+ years of post grad experience

Ability towork on complex projects $6m – 50m indelivery phases

Worked within the education, sport & culturalsectors a must.

Thorough knowledge of relevant planning and building codes, and Australian standards.

Ability to work across several projects concurrently

Detailed design and construction knowledge

Risk and Value management analysis

Ability to work collaboratively
