Through industry-leading events like APPEX, our flagship triennial trade exhibition, along with member services and strategic partnerships, we provide a vital platform for innovation and growth within the sector.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Operations & Membership Officer to join our team. With over 150 Australian based company members, you will work closely with the General Manager, CEO, and our business partners to support the operations of the business. You will play a key role in the continued development and delivery of member and industry services, events, and new member/sponsor growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Member Services & Growth – Proactively identify, target, and convert new member companies to drive satisfaction, retention and growth. Manage a pipeline focused on real conversion outcomes.
- Tradeshows & Exhibitions – Co-ordinate APPMA's presence at domestic and international trade events, from stand design and staffing to marketing, giveaways, and lead follow-up.
- Sponsor & Member Engagement – Build and nurture relationships with sponsors and service partners to boost retention and uncover upsell opportunities. Pitch and secure new partners that resonate with our membership, ensuring members always feel supported and valued.
- Marketing & Social Media – Drive member communications across newsletters, LinkedIn, forums, and digital channels. Oversee publications and source member news, case studies, and videos to keep our community informed and engaged. Manage advertising aligned with strategic priorities.
- Reporting & Administration – Deliver clear, timely reporting on acquisition, sponsorship revenue, event performance, and marketing engagement. Give the General Manager and leadership the insights they need to track progress,



make smart decisions, and demonstrate our impact - while keeping data and systems reliable for smooth operations.
- Operational BAU Activities – Manage the association's recurring events calendar, including APPEX, the APPMA Awards (from exhibitor onboarding to ceremony logistics), and other member gatherings like dinners and key industry functions, keeping everything running seamlessly year after year.

About You

You're an experienced and proactive, organised professional who enjoys building relationships and getting things done. You're comfortable picking up the phone to prospective members, following up on leads, and supporting our sponsors and partners; but you also understand that in a small, close-knit team, no two days are the same.

You're not looking for a role where everything is neatly boxed into a single function. Instead, you're excited by the opportunity to learn the business from the ground up: getting to know our members, our industry, our events, and our processes, so you can contribute across a broad range of activities, from member acquisition and events coordination to publications and administration.

Key Capabilities and Experience:

- 5+ years' experience in a customer-facing, coordination, or business operations role (association, events, or B2B environment preferred).
- Strong relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- High proficiency with CRM/member database systems, MS Office Suite, and cloud-based platforms.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a professional context.
- A versatile, adaptable approach: comfortable shifting between strategic and operational tasks as needed.
- A willingness to learn about the packaging and processing machinery industry, our members, and how an association operates.
