About the opportunity
Opened in August 2018 and located on the Ground Floor at Werribee Mercy Hospital, the Day Procedure Unit offers a modern working environment and a friendly team of Instrument Technicians and Nurses keen for you to join the team. The department was opened in March 2023 to support the current needs of the hospital, including 2 Endoscopy Operating Rooms, and is well placed to meet the demands of future growth. The endoscopy reprocessing area is equipped with 3 AERs with four chambers and 4 Drying Cabinets. This position is a Permanent Part Time Team Leader position based on a weekday rotating roster. Shift times will be 0700-1530, 0900-1730, 1130-2000. Primarily responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the reprocessing unit and managing daily staffing needs. Staff supervision and assisting in cleaning, disinfecting,
inspecting, packing, sterilization, storing of all reusable versatile endoscopes and administration. The applicant will also be responsible for the maintenance of the working environment and associated medical equipment; ensuring standard precautions are followed, whilst strictly implementing the recommended guidelines as stated in AS 5369:2023 and GENCA Guidelines.

- Certificate IV in Health - Sterilising Practice for Technicians or equivalent is essential
- A sound understanding of the recommended guidelines and standards of AS 5369:2023, applying basic principles of standard precautions, disinfection and sterilisation.
- Clinical practice and experience in all areas of cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation within a hospital CSD is essential
- Knowledge & experience in reprocessing of flexible endoscopes are highly desirable.
- Effective and appropriate patterns of communication within a multidisciplinary team; accurate documentation about disinfection and sterilisation of reusable medical instruments.
You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining: A current Police Record Check and Working with Children Check.
Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with public health orders.
