About the Role:

This full-time, afternoon shift (3pm – 11pm) position requires a skilled operator to manage the saddle-stitching of printed materials. This role is vital to our post-press operations, ensuring that multi-page documents are assembled correctly, securely bound, and finished to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities:

- Machine Operation: Set up and run the saddle stitching line, adjusting pockets, caliper settings, and trimmers to suit different booklet sizes and thicknesses.
- Production Management: Coordinate the loading of sections and covers into feeders to ensure continuous, efficient running speeds.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor production closely to ensure correct pagination, precise stitch positioning, and clean, square three-knife trims.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on stitching heads, replace wire spools, and troubleshoot minor mechanical stops or jams to minimize downtime.
- Job Interpretation:

Read and interpret job dockets to determine finished sizes, page counts, and specific packing requirements.
- Material Handling: Ensure finished products are stacked, boxed, or palletized correctly to prevent damage during transport.
- Safety & Hygiene: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, strictly adhering to all machine safety guards and operating procedures.

Ideal Candidate:

- Experience: Proven experience operating stitching lines (e.g., Muller Martini, Heidelberg, or Horizon) within a commercial print environment.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues, specifically regarding stitch heads and trimmer adjustments.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of print imposition, signatures, creep, and paper grain to ensure smooth folding and binding.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous eye for detail to spot pagination errors, scuffing, or trim defects immediately.
- Reliability: Safety-conscious, punctual, and able to maintain focus and pace during time-sensitive production runs.
- Team Player: Capable of communicating effectively with the printing and folding departments to ensure workflow continuity.
