Zencol - We are seeking an experienced and reliable Painter and Decorator to join our construction services team. The successful candidate will be responsible for applying paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate the surfaces of buildings and structures on our residential and commercial projects. This role is pivotal to delivering high-quality finishes across our projects. As Painter and Decorator, you will prepare surfaces, apply a range of finishes, and ensure all work is completed to a professional standard, on time and to specification.

Site Preparation and Safety:

- Erect scaffolding and ladders, and place drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with relevant workplace health and safety requirements.

Surface Preparation:

- Prepare surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces.
- Select and prepare paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives.

Application of Finishes:

- Apply paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and sprays.
- Hang wallpaper, matching patterns and trimming edges.
- Clean equipment and work areas on completion of each job.

Additional Trade Tasks:





- Repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames, as required.
- Lay and repair wall and floor tiles, as required.

Compliance and Industry Standards:

- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, building codes, and workplace safety standards.
- Stay informed of best practice and industry standards relevant to the painting and decorating trade.

Qualifications and Skills:

- AQF Certificate III (including at least two years of on-the-job training) or AQF Certificate IV, or equivalent overseas qualification.
- At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification listed above.
- Relevant registration or licensing, where required.
- Proven experience as a Painter and Decorator within residential and/or commercial construction.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship.
- Ability to work safely at heights and use scaffolding and ladders.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines.

Salary: The role offers a remuneration package of $85.000 p.a. plus superannuation, full-time, Monday to Friday, day shift.
