We are seeking an experienced Operator to join the team at MAN CIVIL & Constructions P/L on a full-time basis. Based in New Gisborne VIC 3438, this role is fundamental to the safe and efficient operation of our plant and machinery across our construction projects. As an Operator, you will be responsible for the skilled operation of various construction equipment (Excavators, Dozer, Moxy, Bobcat, Loader, Grader & more), ensuring all work is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards. This is a hands‑on position that directly contributes to the successful delivery of our construction projects.

Key responsibilities

- Operating and controlling plant and machinery in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and site safety procedures
- Conducting pre-operation inspections and maintenance checks on assigned equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Following site-specific instructions and responding to direction from supervisors and site managers
- Maintaining accurate records of equipment usage, fuel consumption and maintenance activities
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations on site
- Communicating effectively with other team members and site personnel to coordinate operations safely
- Reporting equipment faults, damage or safety concerns immediately to management
- Operating equipment in a manner that minimises environmental impact and waste

What we’re looking for

- Relevant qualifications and certifications for the operation of plant and machinery (such as high-risk work licence, truck license, or excavator certification as applicable)




- Proven experience operating construction equipment on a subdivisions and council contracts (Excavator skilled trenching advantageous)
- Experienced using GPS
- Ability to read and interpret plans
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and site safety protocols
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining safe working practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced construction environment
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Reliability and punctuality with a positive attitude towards work
- Physical fitness and capability to perform the demands of the role
- Experience with preventative maintenance and equipment troubleshooting is highly desirable
