The U.S. Embassy in Canberra is seeking a skilled Digital Media Manager to lead digital engagement and shape communications for the U.S. Mission in Australia.

This position leads the U.S. Mission's digital engagement efforts by developing and implementing communications strategies that advance Mission priorities across digital platforms. The incumbent manages flagship social media and website content, creates engaging digital campaigns, analyzes audience engagement, and works across the Mission to strengthen online communications and public diplomacy initiatives. The Digital Media Manager reports directly to the Information Officer or Country Public Affairs Officer Designee and provides direct supervision to the Digital Production Coordinator.

Major Duties and Responsibilities include:

Implementation– Manage digital platforms, create strategic content, monitor engagement and analytics, and ensure compliance.

Strategic Planning & Evaluation– Plan digital campaigns, research audience trends, evaluate performance, and provide digital communications guidance.

Coordination– Collaborate across the Mission to deliver integrated digital communications.

Skills and Experience

Applicants must have:

6 years of experience managing digital properties to include direct online interaction with the public,



and/or content creation in multimedia and/or traditional formats plus 2 years of full-time college-level studies, or

4 years of experience managing digital properties to include direct online interaction with the public, and/or content creation in multimedia and/or traditional formats plus a bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, international relations.

Applicants should address the below Selection Criteria in 300 words or less:

Familiarity with Australian-specific social media users and audiences

Demonstrated familiarity of U.S.-Australia relations, in any of the following areas: historical, political, economic, defense, cultural.
