Disability Support Workers - North-West Melbourne

We are seeking kind and experienced Disability Support Workers in theNorth-west suburbs of Melbournefor Supported independent Living (SIL) and community access supports - including morning,evening and weekend shifts.

With significantexperience in the disability sector within both government and communityorganisations, Rubix Support is passionate about supporting people withcognitive impairments to lead the life they want to live and to achievetheir goals and aspirations.

Rubix Support provide support topeople aged between two years and sixty five years old. We are aregistered provider under the NDIS and provide services across fourmain areas: Positive Behaviour Support, Support coordination,Lifestyle Support and Sexuality and Relationship education. We are focused on evidenced based best practice andare passionate about achieving positive outcomes for the people wesupport.

WHAT WE DO

Rubix Support aims to improvethe personal well-being of people with cognitive impairments with complexsupport needs through specialised, coordinated assessments andsupports; and to provide extensive training and supports to itsempathetic, experiences and energetic staff.

Rubix Support'sVision is to be a leader in the provision of evidence-based, practical,individualised behaviour assessment and support for people withintellectual impairments with complex support needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Arewarding and challenging role, as a Lifestyle (Disability) SupportWorker, you will be instrumental in providing support for ourparticipants and making positive contributions to their quality oflife.





You may be supporting someone with daily tasks within theirown home or a supported accommodation environment, or on communityoutings such as going to work, the movies, providing personal caresupports or shopping. Rubix Support will match your experience andinterests with like-minded individuals - as the relationship between theParticipant and worker is an essential part of providing qualityservices.

The people we support may have autism, an acquiredbrain injury, intellectual impairment or mental illness. It is importantthat you have an understanding of how these can impact a person'sability and how to support their self-determination.

ABOUT YOU

- Are great 'people' people!
- Have experience supporting individuals living with disability
- Reside or are available to work within the North-West suburbs of Metropolitan Melbourne
- Must have availability for a minimum of three days per week

- Have good core values in relation to inclusiveness and respect
- Have a passion for supporting people to achieve their goals and aspirations
- Excellent communication and people skills; and are not afraid to ask questions
- Have empathy and understanding for individuals and families
- Havea current driver's license, registered vehicle, fully comprehensiveinsurance to provide Participants transport support during shifts
- Are committed to following thecompany's policies and procedures,



and following all specialists'assessments including behaviour support communication and occupationalrecommendations
- Remain calm under pressure, identify risk factors ad make sound decisions
- Haveunderstanding and knowledge of the Disability Act 2006 (Victoria) andknowledge of supporting people with cognitive impairments
- Willing and prepared to complete our paid Induction and other required training.

SCREENING AND APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

- Two Professional Referees

- A cleared NDIS Worker Screening Check (this must be cleared prior to interview)

- Current (Employee) Working with Children Check card
- A current First Aid and CPR certificate
- A current Drivers License and vehicle you are able to transport clients in

- Proof of Australian working rights if applicable

- Completion of NDS Commissions' Worker Orientation Module - Quality, Safety and You
