An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our Head Office team based in Mount Waverley.

Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, this is a hands-on and diverse role supporting the accounting requirements across multiple entities, including corporate-owned and licensee stores.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working autonomously, taking ownership of their work and contributing positively within a small, experienced and supportive team.

As we continue to review and improve our finance processes, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to assist with system enhancements, improved workflows and the adoption of emerging technologies, including AI tools where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

- Preparation and processing of monthly journalsandinvoices,and maintenance of the general ledger for multiple entities, including corporate-owned and licensee stores.
- Preparation of management reports and financial information for internal stakeholders across the entities.
- Preparation of quarterly BAS statements for various entities.
- Assistance with year-end accounts and other financial statutoryreporting requirements.
- Balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of variances.
- Analysis and allocation of expenses and other financial transactions.




- Providing accounting support and information to the Financial Controller and key stakeholders.
- Assisting with finance process improvements and system enhancements.
- Providing occasional payroll assistance during periods of staff leave, including assisting with weekly payroll processing and related reconciliations.
- Other accounting duties and projects as required.
- Handling all confidential financial and commercial information with discretion and professionalism.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Previous experience in an accounting role.
- Relevant accounting qualifications, with CPA/CA qualification or progress towards completion highly regarded.
- Strong, practical experience utilising accounting software (such as MYOB), with the ability to easily learn and navigate modern programs.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A positive and forward thinking attitude.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- A proactive approach and willingness to identify opportunities to improve processes.




- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

The following will be highly regarded:

- Extensive experience using MYOB.
- Exposure to cloud-based accounting applications.
- Experience with accounting system migrations, implementations or process improvements.
- Previous experience working with multi store retail or allied health businesses.
- An interest in emerging technologies, including AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude or similar. Experience using AI tools is not essential — a willingness to learn and explore how they can improve productivity is valued.
- Previous payroll experience, to provide support when required.
