Fire Doors Plus Commercial Doors Pty Ltd is seeking experienced Welders & 1st / 2nd Class Sheet Metal Workers to join our growing team in Pomona, Queensland. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on high-quality commercial door and fire door manufacturing projects. You will be instrumental in producing precision-engineered products that meet strict industry standards and safety requirements. This role is based on-site at our Pomona facility, where you will contribute directly to our manufacturing excellence and operational success.

Key responsibilities

- Performing welding operations on various sheet metal components and assemblies utilising appropriate welding techniques and equipment
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy in all fabrication work
- Operating, maintaining CNC Press Brake and Laser machinery as well as welding equipment, including MIG, TIG welding apparatus, ensuring all tools are in optimal working condition
- Inspecting finished welds and sheet metal work to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications
- Cutting, bending and forming sheet metal materials according to design specifications and dimensional requirements
- Assembling fabricated components into complete units, ensuring proper alignment and fit
- Performing preventative maintenance on welding equipment and reporting any issues promptly
- Working safely in accordance with workplace health and safety regulations and company policies
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors to ensure project deadlines are met
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality

What we're looking for

- Current 1st or 2nd Class Sheet Metal Worker certification or equivalent experience /qualification




- Proven welding experience with proficiency in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG)
- Solid ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately
- Experience working with sheet metal materials and fabrication techniques
- Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
- Valid driver's licence (preferred)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices
- Problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
- Previous experience in the manufacturing or commercial door industry would be advantageous
