The Opportunity

We have an chance for a Agricultural Officer to be part ofour South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI)within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

Support innovative livestock research that helps shape thefuture of South Australia’s sheep industry.

As an Agricultural Officer with SARDI, you will assist in theday-to-day management of research sheep flocks and support a rangeof livestock research programs. Working closely with ResearchOfficers and the Farm Manager, you will undertake practical farmand animal husbandry activities while contributing to highstandards of animal welfare, biosecurity and researchintegrity.

Key Responsibilities

- Support livestock research programs, including sheepreproduction projects and post-operative animal care.
- Perform sheep husbandry activities, including feeding,tagging, weighing, treatments and stock movements.
- Monitor animal health and welfare, collecting observations,measurements and research data.
- Collect biological samples and assist with research andpost-mortem activities.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment,including tractors, forklifts, sprayers, seeding equipment andquad bikes.
- Undertake weed control, pasture management and general farmmaintenance, including fencing and wateringinfrastructure.
- Install, monitor and maintain research equipment andfacilities.
- Maintain accurate records relating to livestock management,chemical use, machinery maintenance and researchactivities.
- Follow animal ethics, biosecurity, WHS and OGTRrequirements.
- Contribute to team meetings and support the delivery ofresearch outcomes.

You are a practical and reliable agricultural professional withexperience in livestock management and farm operations. You havestrong animal husbandry skills,



a commitment to safety and animalwelfare, and the ability to work effectively both independently andwithin a research-focused team.

Special Conditions

- Successful applicant will be required to satisfactorilycomplete a National Police Check (NPC) prior to being made anoffer of employment.

- Full time opportunity, 37.5 hours per week.

Requirements

- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness todrive, a forklift license is desirable.
- You acknowledge your work, health and safety obligationsand our expectations when applying for a role.
- Some out-of-hours work will be required during summer,harvest and other periods of peak work demand, for whichovertime is available.
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergencymanagement training and must be willing to participate inemergency preparedness, response and recovery activitiesrequired by government agencies.
- Ability to use heavy equipment and farm machinery.

Remuneration

OPS2 - $66,441 min - $69,504 max per annum, plussuperannuation
