Build something meaningful- not just a caseload
Townsville Education Centre is looking for a passionate Speech Pathologist who wants the opportunity to provide high-quality clinical care while also helping shape the future of a growing multidisciplinary service.
This is not a traditional back-to-back therapy role.
You will have a sustainable target of approximately 25 clinical hours per week , with an additional 5-10 hours of indirect billable work . The remainder of your working week will be dedicated to collaboration, resource development, service improvement, community engagement and helping us build an exceptional Speech Pathology service.
You will work across 4.5 days per week , giving you the space to build a rewarding career without sacrificing your entire life to it.
We welcome applications from Speech Pathologists already living in Townsville, as well as clinicians from anywhere across Australia who are looking for a sea change, a new professional challenge or the opportunity to help build something special.
About Townsville Education Centre
Townsville Education Centre is part of the All Access Education Group, a locally owned organisation providing tutoring, education programs, Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and community-based events.
We are building a genuinely collaborative service where children and families can access educational and therapeutic support from a team that communicates, works together and sees the whole child.
Our multidisciplinary team includes Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology, education professionals and an expanding range of clinical services.
We are not interested in creating a high-volume therapy factory. We want to create a workplace where clinicians feel supported, trusted and excited about the work they are doing.
The role
Your week will include:
- Approximately 25 hours of direct clinical work
- Approximately 5-10 hours of indirect billable work , including reports, assessments, planning, parent consultation, school liaison and resource development
- Collaboration with Occupational Therapists, educators and other members of our multidisciplinary team
- Developing Speech Pathology programs, resources and systems
- Supporting relationships with families, schools, referrers and community organisations
- Contributing to the growth and direction of the Speech Pathology service
- Participating in case discussions and collaborative care planning
- Helping create a service that is clinically strong, family-centred and sustainable
Your caseload will primarily involve children and young people and may include support in areas such as:
- Speech sound development
- Receptive and expressive language
- Literacy and written language
- Social communication
- Autism and neurodivergent-affirming practice
- AAC and functional communication
- Feeding support, where this aligns with your experience and scope
- Parent, school and educator coaching
The position can be shaped around your experience, strengths and skilled interests.
Why join us?
A sustainable workload
We believe great clinical work requires time to think, plan, collaborate and recover. Your role will not be built around unrealistic back-to-back targets.
A genuine 4.5-day week
Work across four full days and one shorter day, with the structure discussed during the recruitment process.
More than clinical hours
You will have paid time to help develop resources, improve systems, strengthen referral pathways and contribute to the future of the service.
Multidisciplinary support
Work alongside experienced Occupational Therapists, educators and other professionals who understand that children rarely fit neatly into one professional box.
The opportunity to influence the service
You will not be stepping into a rigid corporate model. Your ideas, experience and clinical judgment will help shape how our Speech Pathology service grows.
Relocate to North Queensland
Townsville offers a relaxed coastal lifestyle, shorter commutes, access to Magnetic Island,
a strong family community and significantly more breathing room than many major cities.
Relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate and can be discussed confidentially.
About you
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised qualification in Speech Pathology
- Is eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia
- Has, or is eligible to obtain, appropriate professional registration and provider numbers
- Holds, or can obtain, a Queensland Blue Card and any other required worker screening
- Is passionate about working with children, young people and families
- Communicates openly and works well within a multidisciplinary team
- Values neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based and family-centred practice
- Can balance clinical care with documentation, collaboration and service development
- Wants to contribute ideas rather than simply inherit a caseload
- Is motivated by meaningful growth, not just billable-hour targets
Experienced Speech Pathologists are strongly encouraged to apply. Applications from capable early-career clinicians will also be considered where the candidate demonstrates strong values, initiative and a commitment to learning.
Salary and conditions
- $90,000-110,000 + superannuation , depending on experience
- Permanent full time employment
- 4.5-day working week
- Approximately 25 direct clinical hours per week
- Approximately 5-10 indirect billable hours per week
- Dedicated non-clinical time for collaboration, service development and business growth
- Professional development and supervision support
- Relocation assistance available by negotiation
- Supportive, locally owned and growing organisation
Ready to build something meaningful?
Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter telling us:
- What kind of Speech Pathology work you are most passionate about
- What you are looking for in your next workplace
- Whether you are currently based in Townsville or considering relocating
All applications will be treated confidentially.
We would love to hear from Speech Pathologists who want more than a packed calendar- clinicians who want the time, trust and opportunity to make a genuine difference.
