Piston Power Automotive Services is seeking an experienced Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team in Truganina, VIC. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse range of vehicles in a professional and supportive workshop environment. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining light vehicles to the highest standards, ensuring customer satisfaction and vehicle safety. This role is integral to our reputation for quality workmanship and reliable service in the automotive industry.

What you'll be doing

- Conducting comprehensive vehicle inspections and diagnostic testing to identify mechanical and electrical issues
- Performing scheduled maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups, and tyre rotations
- Repairing and replacing worn or faulty components such as brakes, suspension, engines, and transmission systems
- Reading and interpreting technical service manuals, repair procedures, and diagnostic equipment documentation
- Communicating effectively with customers to explain repairs, provide quotations, and manage expectations
- Maintaining accurate and detailed service records and work documentation
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in compliance with relevant legislative requirements and workshop standards
- Contributing to a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
- Working collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient workshop operations

What we're looking for

- A recognised qualification in automotive mechanical engineering or light vehicle mechanics (Certificate III or IV in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent)
- Proven experience working as a light vehicle mechanic, ideally in an independent workshop or dealership environment, with a minimum of 2 years




- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues quickly and accurately
- Competency in using diagnostic equipment, computer software, and modern workshop tools
- A thorough understanding of vehicle safety standards and legislative compliance requirements
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach to service delivery
- Physical capability to perform manual work including lifting, bending, and working in various positions
- Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship
- A valid Australian driver's licence and current working rights
- Preferably, experience with diagnostic scanning tools and familiarity with common vehicle brands and models
- An Air Conditioning License and/or a Vehicle Tester License is highly valued.
