Our client is seeking an experienced and commercially focused Management Accountant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working closely with operational managers, providing meaningful financial analysis and contributing to strategic decision-making.

About the Role

Reporting to the business owner direct, you will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate management reporting, budgeting, forecasting and commercial analysis to support business growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Analyse project profitability, margins and cost performance.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
- Work closely with Project Managers to review project financial performance.
- Prepare annual budgets and regular forecasts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end reporting.
- Analyse overheads and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Prepare financial models and business cases for new projects.
- Assist with Work in Progress (WIP) reporting and revenue recognition.




- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across projects and business divisions.
- Assist with payroll reporting, BAS preparation and compliance requirements.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors.
- Support continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes.

About You

You will be a proactive and commercially minded accountant who enjoys partnering with operational teams and influencing business decisions.

Ideally you will have:

- CPA or CA qualification (or nearing completion).
- Minimum 5 years' accounting experience.
- Previous experience within the construction, civil, engineering or project-based industry.
- Strong management accounting and financial analysis skills.
- Experience with project costing and WIP reporting.
- Excellent Excel skills.
- Experience using accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, Pronto, Greentree, JobPac, Viewpoint, or similar ERP systems.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
