The Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Media Advisor to join our Communication and Executive Services team. In this quick-paced and high-profile role, you will shape the QBCC’s public voice by preparing high-quality media responses, thought-leadership content, and daily media monitoring outputs. You will work closely with media, government, and industry stakeholders to support the QBCC’s reputation and ensure timely, accurate and strategic communication. This temporary opportunity is available from 28 September 2026 until 10 January 2028 and offers flexible work arrangements.
About The Role
- Managing the team's statistical and reporting functions
- Maintaining external stakeholder contacts lists and coordinating content distribution
- Drafting high-quality responses to media queries and coordinating approvals
- Participating in the daily media clips roster and monitoring emerging issues
- Writing thought-leadership articles and other strategic communication pieces
You will work collaboratively with internal teams and senior leaders to ensure the QBCC's messaging is consistent, accurate, and aligned to organisational priorities.
The role requires strong judgment, excellent writing capability, and the ability to operate confidently under pressure and tight deadlines.

About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring strong capability in media and strategic communication, with the proven ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment. You have high-level skills and experience in writing media releases, media responses, speeches, briefing notes, articles and promotional material, supported by sound judgment and the capacity to work under pressure and meet short deadlines. You demonstrate confidence engaging with media, government and industry leaders to build positive working relationships, and you apply a professional, collaborative approach to delivering high-quality communication outputs. Journalism and/or government media or communications experience will be well regarded.
