The team
The RegistryConnect program is focused on the stabilisation and targeted uplift of business registers including designing connections to the ABN and Director ID registers held by the ATO, and the more than 30 registers held by ASIC.
The role
The Product Owner, Director ID, is responsible for translating business and regulatory needs into prioritised product outcomes for the RegistryConnect Program. The role owns the feature backlog, leads discovery and elaboration, and provides delivery teams with clear requirements, business rules and acceptance criteria.
Responsibilities will include:
- Translate policy, legislative, business and customer needs into prioritised, delivery-ready product outcomes, requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Own and manage the Director ID feature backlog, ensuring alignment with RegistryConnect priorities, delivery milestones and policy intent.
- Lead feature discovery, analysis and elaboration to define solutions that meet business, regulatory and operational outcomes.
- Produce and maintain high-quality feature documentation, business rules and supporting artefacts.
- Collaborate with business, policy, legal, data, architecture, UX/UI and delivery teams to define and prioritise requirements.
- Ensure legislative, regulatory and operational constraints, dependencies and assumptions are identified and documented.
- Champion One ASIC design principles and support the delivery of secure, trusted and efficient registry services.
- Present feature proposals and outcomes to senior stakeholders to gain alignment and approval.
- Support business readiness, UAT and PVT activities, including test planning, issue resolution and acceptance sign-off.
- Manage product enhancements and technical changes to address business needs and improve outcomes.
- Identify and communicate risks, trade-offs and decisions, balancing customer, regulatory, operational and technology considerations.
About you
Qualifications & Experience:
- Relevant qualifications and/or 6+ years' experience in product ownership, business analysis, service design, digital delivery or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Product Owner or in a similar product delivery role within a complex environment.
- Strong capability to translate business, legislative, regulatory and operational requirements into clear product outcomes, requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Experience managing and prioritising product backlogs, shaping delivery outcomes from discovery through to implementation.
- Ability to balance customer needs, regulatory outcomes, operational feasibility, risk and technical constraints to make sound product decisions.
- Experience working with Agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams, ideally within government, regulatory or similarly complex environments.
- Experience in registry, compliance,
identity management, government service delivery or other large-scale, regulated product domains.
- Comfortable working in evolving delivery environments, helping shape practical ways of working and driving continuous improvement.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a curious and collaborative approach to complex challenges.
- Proven ability to engage, influence and build productive relationships across business, policy, operations and technology stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including leading workshops and presenting recommendations, trade-offs and outcomes to senior leaders.
