About the role

This role focuses on building tools and pipelines for an unannounced R&D; project based in Sydney. You will act as a bridge between art and engineering to create efficient workflows for character, animation, environment, audio, and VFX teams.

What you'll do

- Design and maintain end-to-end production workflows across multiple creative disciplines.
- Partner with engineering and art departments to define technical requirements and evaluate existing tools.
- Develop scalable systems that allow multiple teams to work in parallel.
- Provide hands-on technical support to artists and use feedback to refine tool performance.
- Mentor other technical artists and contribute to team documentation.
- Communicate project goals and provide constructive feedback to improve production efficiency.

Requirements

- 6+ years of professional experience as a technical artist.
- Expertise in content creation and tool development for Autodesk Maya and Substance Suite.
- Professional experience using Unreal Engine 5.
- High proficiency in Python for building scalable, high-performance tools.




- Experience with PySide or PyQt for UI development.
- Ability to translate artistic needs into technical specifications.
- Strong communication skills to act as a liaison between art and engineering departments.

Nice to have

- Proficiency in C++ and UMG for Unreal Engine 5.
- Experience with Houdini, Blender, ZBrush, 3DS Max, or Adobe Creative Suite.
- UI/UX design skills.
- Knowledge of performance optimization for modern hardware.
- Experience on large-scale AAA projects.
- Background in character rigging and animation pipelines.
- Interest in AI-assisted production workflows.
