About HR Shared Services

The HR Shared Services (HRSS) Department is part of the broader People and Culture Directorate. It is a well-regarded operations function, consisting of teams that provide accurate and efficient HR services across the organisation. With a focus on service excellence and customer‑centricity, the HRSS teams work collaboratively together and with the broader People and Culture function to support employees and managers through the employee life cycle. HRSS includes payroll, salary packaging, HR services and HR systems.

About the role

As the Payroll Operations Lead, you will lead the day‑to‑day operations of a payroll team responsible for the processing of a payroll service within Austin Health. The role is currently responsible for running a fortnightly pay end to end and supervises a team of payroll professionals. This is a full time parental leave cover role with a monthly ADO.

A regular day will see you:

- Providing Payroll team members with coaching, guidance, and direction, monitoring workloads and delegating tasks as appropriate
- Assist and advise managers with payroll requirements and procedures as required
- Oversee the finalisation of the relevant pay run, ensuring all caution/error lists are checked
- Providing Austin Health employees and managers with support and accuracy in a timely manner for all related payroll duties and administration
- Solving complex payroll queries and operate effectively across all areas of payroll

About you

As the Payroll Operations Lead, you will be someone who has excellent communication skills, with a high level of initiative with the ability to prioritise business requirements.





To be successful in this role you’ll bring with you:

- In‑depth understanding of end –to‑end payroll processing legislation through 10+ years of experience
- Knowledge and strong skills in the use of Success Factors and Kronos
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, leadership skills and team building ability
