About the Opportunity

Workfront is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from reliable and motivated individuals looking to join one of Australia's largest and most essential industries.

We partner with some of Australia's leading commercial poultry producers, recruiting year-round for ongoing casual labour hire positions across multiple poultry operations throughout Griffith and surrounding areas.

While these roles are primarily casual labour hire positions, many of our host employers choose to offer permanent employment to workers who consistently demonstrate reliability, a strong work ethic, and a positive attitude.

Position Overview

Our clients operate modern, climate-controlled poultry facilities that play an important role in supplying quality poultry products to Australian communities.

As part of our team, all employees are expected to maintain high standards of safety, animal welfare and biosecurity.

Responsibilities Across All Farms

- Working with live birds while maintaining high standards of animal welfare.
- Conducting daily bird health and welfare checks.
- Collecting deceased birds and humanely euthanising sick or injured birds when required.
- Cleaning and sanitising sheds, equipment and work areas.
- Completing routine shed checks and maintaining accurate records.
- Performing general farm maintenance and reporting maintenance issues.
- Following strict workplace health and safety, biosecurity and company procedures.
- Working effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Depending on the poultry operation

- Preparing sheds for new arrivals (Rearing Farms).
- Placing day-old chicks into sheds (Rearing Farms).
- Maintaining feed, water and environmental systems (Rearing Farms).
- Egg collection and quality checks (Layer Farms).
- Monitoring laying flocks and egg production (Layer Farms).
- Grading, packing and preparing eggs for distribution (Grading & Packing Facilities).
- Conducting quality assurance checks (Grading & Packing Facilities).
- Operating grading and packing equipment (training provided)

What We're Looking For

- Previous poultry farming or livestock experience is highly regarded but not essential.
- Comfortable working in all aspects of the poultry industry.
- Physically fit and capable of repetitive manual tasks, including bending, lifting and standing for extended periods.
- Reliable, punctual and eager to learn.
- Robust attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends when required.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Essential Requirements

- Reliable transport to travel to and from the farm.
- Own safety boots and high-visibility work shirt. Some farms may provide uniform.
- Valid Australian work rights.
- Ability to comply with all workplace policies and biosecurity requirements.

Important Biosecurity Requirements

To protect the health of our livestock, strict biosecurity measures apply.

Applicants must not:

- Have regular contact with birds or pigs outside of work (including pets kept at your residence).
- Live with someone employed in another poultry or pig operation.

Successful applicants must comply with all on-site biosecurity procedures, including showering before each shift if required by the farm.

Working Holiday Visa Holders Welcome

Applicants holding a valid Working Holiday Visa are encouraged to apply.

- Must currently be located in Griffith and surrounding areas, or willing to relocate.
- Must have valid working rights in Australia.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Poultry farm work with Workfront is eligible as specified work towards a second or third Working Holiday Visa, subject to current Australian Government visa requirements.
